Update – Illustrations, Animation Line Tests, Kensho Screening
Hello everyone, Marina here! We have a couple of different stuff to share so there’ll be some variety in today’s update~ First of all, the “Illustration” section is now a subsection under the renamed “Digital Artwork” section. Can you tell us why Danny?
.
Basically it’s because I finally have some proper illustrations to show! Typically, illustrations have characters within backgrounds. This is different than character designs which are meant to isolate the character and focus on its design. The more broad term “Digital Artwork” works better to encompass both types of art, as well as some future sections I may plan on adding, such as concept art, color studies, etc.
Today we bring you the first two illustrations, as well as an illustration in progress (still no background) and a new character design! They can, of course, be found in their respective sections – Illustration, In Progress, and Character Design. But for convenience sake, we’ll also start adding thumbnails within the blogs. Here they are!
Hmm… you know, now that I look at it, it seems like you tend to draw women a lot, don’t you Danny?
.
.
If you’re gonna spend a few hours staring at something, I’d rather spend it looking at women over men.
.
.
.
.
AHAHAHA HA HA ha ha….. ha…….. Just joking. I’m sure I’ll have more drawings of really cool and bad ass looking guys up soon, so don’t worry all you ladies out there. But then again, why bother when you’ve already got ME?!? AAAHAHAHAHA-
.
.
.
Moving on… we also have a new “Animation Line Tests” section!
.
.
.
.
Line tests are basically rough animations that animators use to test their animations before making their final “clean” animations. For this website, it’ll encompass all animations that aren’t finished.
.
Oh, so you’ve finally started making new animations?
.
.
.
.
..huh? Whats that supposed to mean?
.
.
Right now there are only line tests from Kensho – animations that never made it into the final cut of the film. So even though they’re new on the site, these aren’t exactly “new.” You can check them out here.
.
I see… so shouldn’t these have been put up a long time ago?
.
.
Well, it’s because of a technical problem dealing with how to imbed videos into a thumbnail using a lightbox type code. The… code for the program wasn’t embedding correctly in the indexhibit page and uh… the html was interfering with ummm the frequency of the gigabyte accelerator within the core duo mecha thing…
So you couldn’t figure something out…?
.
.
It’s a shame these nice animations never got used so I’m thinking of using them somehow in my next film, so you can think of it as a sneak peak!
.
.
Isn’t that just recycling old stuff? And you didn’t answer my question…
.
.
KENSHO WILL BE SCREENING AT THE ARTS GUILD NEW JERSEY ON JANUARY 15TH, 2011!!! $3.00 entry, doors open at 7:30 pm and the screening begins at 8:00 pm. 21 animation movies will be shown for over 90 minutes of film. The Arts Guild is located in the downtown of Rahway, approximately 6 blocks from the Rahway train station and 35 minutes from NY Penn Station (free parking). Visit www.agnj.org for directions~!!!
Danny will try to go as well, so if you are able to, please come! The festival is also featuring 2 fellow RISD animators, Tim Beckhardt and Katie Wendt~!
.
.
.
.
And Danny, don’t think you got away with anything. You still haven’t answered my questions.
.
.
N-no idea what you’re talking about…
