Danny’s Picks – Skhizein
Hello everyone! This week’s Danny’s Picks will be a short film by Jèrèmy Clapin called “Skhizein.” It’s the story of a man, who after getting struck by a 150-ton meteorite, has to adapt to living exactly 91 cm from himself. Enjoy!
.
Skhizein means “to split” or “to cleave” in Greek and is derived from the ancient Greek word for schizophrenia. Personally I viewed the “feeling separate from yourself” concept more in an existential light, but all of that is up to subjective opinions of course. Either way, Skhizein is a wonderfully thought-provoking film that is as haunting as it is beautiful.
