Hello everyone and welcome to Danny’s blog on Nekocon 2011!  Officially known as Nekocon 14, the convention was held at Hampton Roads Convention Center in Virginia from November 4th – 6th.

This convention featured the first of many things for me, including having a panel and booth for Fixer, modeling in a fashion show, meeting the featured band and so much more!  But let’s start at the beginning, shall we?

Danny traveled down to the convention center the day before the con on Thursday to get his badge, check into his hotel and meet the other guests, Takuya Angel and BORN!

BORN~!!!

Danny’s a big fan of BORN, so he was really psyched to not only see them in concert, but to hang out with them!

.

.

Well, we didn’t really hang out, but for starters the entire Tainted Reality staff, Iron Man of Gaming staff, BORN, Takuya Angel and I went to Five Guys for dinner on Thursday night!  I sat two tables down from BORN but I sat next to and got to know Takuya Angel!  I then went to Walmart with Takuya-san for some shopping.

Often times Visual Kei bands don’t allow pictures of them off stage without their makeup and outfits on.  So while I got to meet and talk to them a few times throughout the weekend, I couldn’t take any pictures.  They didn’t even allow pictures/video to be taken at the signing or concert either!

Pfft.  I apologize folks, I know Danny loves the band and all, but I never imagined he’d LIE about meeting them.  That’s pretty low Danny.

Did people buy a lot of stuff at your booth?

Actually, I didn’t sell anything this time around.  I was just there for promotional purposes to spread the word on Fixer, share my other art and to just meet and talk to people.

Is that so?  So you’re not selling anything at any of these conventions?

Well, the reaction at Nekocon seemed to be very positive so I may start off with limited prints at AnimeUSA or something…  I was also asked by a few people if they can order prints online.  It would take some time to implement, but if there’s demand for it…

.

Fufufu I’d be surprised if you sold anything at all.

Danny will let everyone know on the Facebook fan page if he decides to sell prints before AnimeUSA rolls around!  Please check back for updates on that.

As I mentioned, this was my first con with a booth, so I was pretty much there the entire convention.  My apologies for the lack of pictures this blog, I was having too much fun meeting and talking to everyone at the booth!

Anyway, Friday was also the day of your fashion show!  How did that go?

.

.

That’s right.  I modeled for Takuya Angel-san Friday night.  This unfortunately meant I had to miss BORN’s Friday concert (I was getting dressed backstage while the concert was going on) but I went to the Saturday one so it worked out in the end.  Here’s some pics of me and some of the other models getting ready before the show.

Takuya-san’s clothes can certainly be a bit shocking to anyone first seeing them, but they’re also very creative, versatile in design and cool looking!  I was honored to be a part of the show!

Well I admit the other models look very cute in their outfits!  I guess it’s just you that looks weird.

Since Danny was in the show, he of course couldn’t record it himself but if anyone sees pictures or video of Danny in the fashion show or anywhere else from the con, feel free to tag him with his fan page!

 Takuya-san also had a rave right after the fashion show to top off the night.  After dropping off my stuff, I was told to go backstage where I found Tainted Reality staff dancing onstage!  Here’s a video of all the fun.

That’s certainly a bit different experience from past raves you’ve went to.

It certainly was.  When I was initially texted to go back stage, I thought I was in trouble or something, I had no idea that’s why they wanted me there!

.

This brings us to Saturday.  Besides residing at his booth all day, Danny also had his panel discussion where Tainted Reality unveiled the world premiere of a new Rose Noire music video as well as the debut of Fixer!  It took place in Panel Room 1 at 6pm.

.

Apparently Nekocon had some mix ups in the scheduling, so some people thought it was in a different room or at a different time.  Some even came up to me the day after asking why it was cancelled!  My apologies to anyone who wanted to come but couldn’t make it!

.

Any and all information from the panel will be at AnimeUSA as well as revealed on the site as we get closer to the official release on January 5th.  Here we have a video by Tainted Reality of some of the highlights from it!

These first few pictures are from before the panel started.  The video is all after we had finished talking about Fixer and were just screwing around and having fun.  It mostly features a fun air guitar and cat cosplay contest for free candy.  Enjoy~

After the panel ended, Danny headed over to the Main Events room for the BORN concert!

Before the BORN concert, the other musical guest MC Frontalot had a concert as well.  I went backstage to drop off some stuff like my jacket (since I planned on completely rocking out during the BORN concert!) and decided to just watch his concert there.  Here’s some pics of MC Frontalot’s concert.

And that finally brings us to the BORN concert!  After the MC Frontalot concert, Danny made his way to the front row while they were setting up.

Unfortunately, no one was allowed to take pictures or video during the concert.  However, PSC (BORN’s label company) recorded the Friday night concert.  If we get a hold of that footage, we’ll be sure to share it with you!

And even though no pictures were allowed, I was able to get a poster signed by all of them!  I also picked up a shirt as well.

Soon after the concert came the second Rave of the convention.

.

.

 The video here features “The Spin Cycle,” a DJ competition where the nex DJ has 10 seconds to spin into the current song playing.  The crowd then decides who wins by volume of applause.

.

Danny actually only stayed at the rave a short while because he then attended a staff party in the presidential suite of the hotel!  He snapped a few photos of the room before it got too crowded and rowdy in there.

.

And that pretty much covers Saturday.  Sunday was pretty straight forward and quiet, as I basically just stayed at my booth all day.  The convention closed early on Sunday around 4pm so I spent the rest of the day resting up till dinner when the entire Tainted Reality staff, Iron Man of Gaming and BORN went to Outback Steakhouse!  I ended up sitting at the same table as BORN this time!

But it’s all true…

And I suppose you also partied with them, became best friends and even became an honorary band member or something.

No… but afterwards they did stop by the room I was staying in and played rock band with us!  They only stayed a short while till they had to go pack their things and leave for Japan, but I also got to talk to them personally outside right before their van pulled up to leave.  Among other things, I gave them my card, thanked them for coming to America and asked that they please come back.  Kifumi even said he recognized me at the show! (I was right in front of him at the concert).  They don’t speak much English but I think my Japanese was pre-
