Luminous Washi Lanterns
Luminous Washi Lanterns
Luminous Paper Lanterns was designed by students from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) Wintersession 2011 Architectonics studio with their instructor Aki Ishida, an architect based in NYC. It was installed at Japan Society’s earth quake relief event CONCERT FOR JAPAN on April 9, 2011. Inspired by traditional mulberry paper lanterns typically found at Japanese festivals, this collective piece grew over the course of the day as the visitors wrote earthquake relief wishes on paper and contribute to the making of the work.
